Best of Earthed Shambles???

posted by gordo via rankin's site

Stumbled across an interesting post on Alex Rankin's website. Alex made all of the Earthed videos we've grown to love over the years. Well, now, a "Best of Earthed" dvd has come out and I thought it would be sweet. While investigating the movie, Rankin's thoughts on the dvd came up.

Interesting to say the least. There are always two sides to every story, but read the post by Tim March that lit it up. If this is old news, sorry.

Yeehaw...

posted by gordo

This is some of the shrapnel left over from the PRO-TEC shoot this evening.

Just finished up a hell of a shoot with R.A.F. and Smiff for the Pro-tec feature coming up. Those two manned up and were the reason for some funny photographs. Phactoree provided the fire power. That feature along with the new site will be showing up in a few days. Till then, F- the snow and tune into the Triple Crown of Surfing online.

Kirt Voreis' Garage Session Video

posted by gordo

Some bike, some skate, some fun...

You know someone is a legend when they haven't skated in months, can barely drop in and then they do a big spin backside disaster on a tight-ass ramp. Sven gapes it up in un-tied hiking boots, too. Music is for those who like San Jose skaters. Winter can't be too bad with a garage like that.

Old Clappin' Yo Dome Trailers

Teaser #1

Teaser #2

In the season of sweet movie trailers popping up everywhere, let's take a trip back to the "old school" of five years ago and look at some CYD trailers. Trailers are way more fun and stimulating than complete movies, but if you want to watch CYD in full, go here. How come they're called trailers if they come before the movie? They're not trailing behind the movie, right?

So, here's the thing...MEXICO SUCKERS!

posted by gordo

Cash & Matty and a Nomadular Unit at the beach

Tomorrow, the Gaper Xpress Direct leaves for the Pacific Coast of Mexico. Myself, Phactoree, Alex, KShiz and Wentz all head down to visit the Thompson clan (who has been there for 3 weeks) in a little hamlet on the coast. What does that mean for you? It means, you won't be there and we will be getting shacked, eating fish tacos and watching the sunset in 86 degree weather.

If the Gaper Xpress Direct crashes, well, The Fix will go under and so will Litter, but we'll go down in flames, wasted on Jack Daniels, so it will be an epic ending. If the plane makes it there and back (and we decide to come back), you can expect a new Litter website around December 1st (give or take a day or 20). Have fun not being in Mexico with us.
Cheers - Gordo Fonseca

Pro-Tec Goodness!

posted by gordo via "seen"

I don't get very many knocks on my door, so I'm suspicious when the noise invades my little brick palace. No need to be suspicious of the guy at the door today, though, he came with a box full of rad PRO-TEC goodies. In a short time, you'll be able to see everything (almost) that was in the brown, cube-shaped conveyance right here on litter.

One other thing...wind sucks.

Happy Birthday Neil Young

posted by gordo

The radio mentioned it was Neil Young's birthday today, so let's wish him a good one! His music is inspiring. I read something yesterday that I think Neil would probably agree with. It's from a book called Why We Hate Us which I'm going to try to hunt down via the local bookstore instead of Amazon. Here's the quote that stood out.

"I love purposefully limiting my choices instead of expanding them."

Happy Birthday Mr. Young. You've always inspired me to appreciate the little things and you've reminded me that a simple life might just be where it's at.

Stokage...

posted by gordo via some kid on MTBR

So Stoked...

Poking around mtbr today, I came across this video. Some grom and his friend filming the little trail they made in their backyard (which looks very well-made...way better than Wentz's attempt at wooden stunt building). I don't know why, but this little video got me so freaking stoked! These kids are building, ripping and having fun. Just seems refreshing since all I seem to read about or hear about revolves around insignificant pro team lineups, which company bought which company or joe schmoe's opinion on why X product sucks. Who cares? VIVA EL GROMMETS!

Coolest Forum Thread in MTB History

posted by gordo via ridemonkey.com

Full Suspension Patent from 1890. We're all off the back.

This Ridemonkey thread has been going on a while now (since august of 2005) but it is always the most fun to look at. "Pictures of old and obscure bikes" is full of entertainment, history and embarrassment. Photos of any and every suspension contraption ever made grace this mega-thread. With so many replies, some of the photos are long gone, but take some time and see what weird shit our sport has come up with. Thanks to DW for starting it!

Team Save Ferris wins Red Bull Soapbox Race

posted by gordo

Team Save Ferris took home the victory at the Red Bull Soapbox race in Denver this past weekend. The team consisted of a bunch of bike nerds whom you may be familiar with. Josh "Motionboy" McGuckin, Matt Fisher (who piloted the car), Jeremiah Hueske and a few others came up with a bitchin' car that took the show. WAY TO GO! www.teamsaveferris.com for info and more videos.
